    3. Here is my closest Covey ancestor: Dora Dee COVEY born 26 Sep 1856 in Schuyler county, Illinois (d. 1932 Wyoming) to John COVEY, born 1830 in Washington county, Ohio and Minerva Ellen TRACY, born 23 Jan 1838 in Fulton county, Illinois, md. 1854. Her parents were divorced when she was a baby, and John married (1860) to Nancy Jane HEMPHILL in Brown county, Ill. and had several other children. I have a COVEY question in general. Does anyone know if any of their ancestors or families had an eye disorder, where the men are nearly blind by adult hood? We know that Dora Dee COVEY is a carrier of a rare genetic eye disorder, but we can't trace it back to any other family. It may have been passed to her from either her father, COVEY, or her mother,TRACY. But to this point, we have not seen anything about the men in either the family lines becoming blind. The women would carry the gene, but only the boys would be affected. If any one is interested in any more detail, let me know. She was married twice, with children and grandchildren/ grt grandchildren from both marriages affected, so we know she was the carrier. Aren't genetics interesting?
