Does anyone have documentation that James Covey (1715-1782) died in Washington County, VA? He would have been 67 years of age and Washington County, VA is a very long way from RI, CT, or NY. Does anyone have documentation that this same James Covey actually lived in the state of New York? It has been reported that he served in the French and Indian War (Great Swamp Campaign of 1761) and was entitled to bounty land in New York - Philipse Division, Lot 49 of Dutchess County, date of lot chart is May 2, 1781.
