This came across my desk today thought I'd pass it along: The Michigan Department of Community Health announces a new Internet source:GENDIS (Geneological Death Indexing System). Its a complete recording of facts from death ledgers 1867-1874/75 (including name, parents names, place of birth, place of death, occupation, and cause of death) When completed the database will cover up to 1897. The data file is maintained by the Division for Vital Records and Health Statistics and is made possible through the help of the Michigan Geneological Council (in particular the efforts of Margaret Tager Walker)and the Abrams Foundation. The web site for GENDIS is: http:/www.mdch.state.mi.us/gendis/index.htm
