Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m.Monday,Feb.17,2003,at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa,Texas with the Rev. James Robertson officiating.(2nd to the oldest grandchild).Mr.Covey was born Sept.5,1919,in DeRidder,La.,the son of the lateJames Guy Covey and Mattie Lee Hodges Covey.He was married to Ada Lee Hankins Jan.15,1946,in Bastrop,La. He servedin the United States Army during WWII receiving the American Camaign Medal,Good Conduct Medal,Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two service stars.He worked in the oil fields including 45 years of service with Anderson Brothers Pipe. He was preceded in death by wife. Survivors include his son,James Ray Covey,Jr.,of Odessa,Reba Porter of Abilene and Mattie Robertson of Brownwood;his sisters,Reba Bodine and Gene Pepper of Houston, and Alvie Dorman of Port Authur; Seven grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. This was put on here buy his oldest granddaughter(Tabitha Covey of Odessa,Texas).If anyone needs more info on this Covey line I have a little not alot still searching my self.
