Without any other facts or relationships, I'll have to say - it wouldn't be the first that I've seen a son married to a woman with the same name as his mother, and naming his children after his siblings, so don't discount that as a possiblity. *However*, in this case, according to what I've seen (mostly from Quist book), John Covey who married Martha Burdick was the son of James Covey and Sarah Landphere. I have the following note: "It seems unlikely he died in 1818. He is probably mixed up with the John who died in 1818 at age 64." I have that he was born 16 Mar 1717 Westerly, Washington, RI and married Martha 25 JAN 1741. In 1768 July he lived in Stonington, New London, CT when James & Hope moved there. In the 1790 census he's in Hessick(sp?) Twn, Rennselaer, NY. He was in the Rev War 14th Regiment at Albany NY. Son John born after 1741 in Westerly, married Mrs Desire BLOSSON 10 Nov 1764 Hopkinton, St Lawrence, NY. Sons Matthew and Samuel and daughter Polly are children from a chart done a long time ago by a Landphere researcher (without sources). I don't know who or where it came from as it was a chart in the papers of a deceased cousin of my husband. None of the above is my original research. It is from analyzing a combination of the Quist book and the Landphere chart, so sorry, I can't answer any questions. I'm interested in more on John who married Desire as he would be a candidate (age-wise) for the father of William Covey born 18 Jun 1765 Cambridge, Washington (then Albany), New York and died 19 Oct 1845 Butternuts, Otsego, New York. A problem to that would be the distance between St Lawrence Co & Albany Co. But then again, I have no proof that Wm was born in Cambridge, and St Lawrence down to his adulthood in Otsego is more reasonable. -- Kathryn Rhinehart Bassett (Pasadena CA) kathryn.bassett@switchboard.net "Genealogy is my bag" "GH is my soap" http://pw2.netcom.com/~kathrynb/kathryn.htm ICQ World-Wide-Pager address http://wwp.mirabilis.com/17663458
