I was on a website the other day regarding ACADIANS...there was a list of some of the French names and what they became in English ---- Couey became Covey, Cowey, Cooey, and Coowie when Anglicized.... I am looking for information on a Almon Covey b. in VT about 1809, then went to Cayuaga Co NY and finally to Kalamazoo, Michigan by 1839 and why there are two SLIVER children living in his home by the 1870 census....
