I held on to it in case I was able to use it to make a connection someday. Blue Earth County Enterprise; Aug 5, 1954 Vol #11 Mapleton, MN John Covey of Sterling Passes at Age of 70 The community is mourning the passing og one of its best known residents, John Covey, of Sterling who died last Thrusday morning at a Mankato Hospital. While not in the best of health for some time, he had gone to the hospital for treatment, only to become very ill and death came to relieve his suffering. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the Presbyterian church at Amboy. Memebers of the Amboy Odd Fellows lodge of which Mr. Covey was a member had charge of the committal services. Internment was in the Sterling cemetery. The remains, which were brought from the hospital to the Cronen Mortuary, were taken to the Covey home Saturday morning where they lay in state until the time of the funeral. Mr. Covey who was 70 years of age, was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 8, 1883. For most of his life he has lived on the farm in Sterling. being recognized among his neighbors for his fine sirit of friendliness, his kindley deeds and generous hospitality. His passing brings sorrow to a large circle of friends. Besides his wife, the former Inez Lamp, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ella Weerts of Mankato; Mrs. Mary Jahnz, of Good Thunder and Mrs. Mildred Hill of Ceylon. His sons are Charles Covey of Colorado Springs, Colorado, George Covey of Amboy, and Richard Covey of Sterling. He has one sister, Mrs. Charles Lewis, of Sioux City, Iowa. My great grandfather, Clifford Covey, lived in Mapleton twp, MN from about 1871 until about 1887 and Married Nora Foster, daughter of Warren Foster there in 1871. Nora's sister, Melissa Foster married Richard Annis there in the late 1800's as well. If you run into anything that might connect these two Coveys please let me know. Paul
