Kathryn G. Covey Friday, December 20, 2002 Kathryn G. Covey, 92, of Pleasant Street, Concord, died Tuesday at the Hospice House in Concord. She was born in Cross Fork, Pa., the daughter of Julius and Mary (Gorman) Green. She graduated form Westchester State Teachers College. She was formerly of Lockport, N.Y. Covey worked teaching third grade at St. Johns School in Lockport, N.Y., for 15 years. she was a member of St. Johns Church in Lockport, N.Y. She volunteered at the Lockport (N.Y.) public schools after retiring. She enjoyed traveling and reading. Survivors include a son, J. Kent Covey of Cincinnati; a daughter, Mary Schaffrath of New Boston; six grandchildren, Kristen Newman, Sara Greene, Megan Schaffrath, Michael Covey, Colleen Covey and Shannon Covey; three great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, John Covey, died in 1995; a brother, Julius Green, and a sister, Marie Green, also died previously. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Concord. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 52 Pleasant St., Concord. Burial will be held at a later date in Coudersport, Pa. Memorial donations may be made to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice House, P.O. Box 1797, Concord 03302-1797; the Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service, P.O. Box 575, Buffalo, N.Y. 14225; or to Book on Tape at your local library. Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are. This is here as a lasting memorial for Mrs. Covey.
