Happy New Year to everyone. I want to thank all of you that responded either to me or to the list about the Christmas gift to my family.... the 1999 calender. I tried to reply to all personally, but if I missed you....I'm sorry! Your comments were wonderful and very much appreciated. If I can figure out HOW to post some of it to my web site, I'll let you know. Sometimes it's very hard to visualize just how something is done, especially when the right words aren't used. Hi All, Thought you might be able to help me out. I have research data which show Samuel COVEY, (not Sam, Sr), that says he was born in both 1721 and 1761 married to Elizabeth Knapp who has three different birth years recorded; 1754, 1758 & 1762. I have no trouble accepting that there could have been two Sams, nor do I doubt that there could have been three Elizabeths. What I am having trouble with is two men whose names were the same married two different women whose names were identical and would have been at least 33 years older than the youngest man. Could you help me reconcile this dilemma? I hope you and yours had a very happy holiday. Larry

Hi, Larry and list! -- Well, Susanna is a problem as far as I'm concerned. We know Sam had to be married to a YEARNS, from the name being carried down through generations. But I think (no proof) that Sam was married at least twice. It is highly unlikely that the same woman who gave birth to Sam Jr c1772 or so, also gave birth to another son in 1815. That would mean she had children over a span of 43 yrs! There has always been a lot of talk about Indian blood in the COVEY line somewhere. I wonder if Sam married a YEARNS first, and then married Susanna, who was at least half Indian. The YEARNS married in the COVEYS several times, but we have no proof of any relation between those COVEY men. However, it seems that they would have married the YEARNS in and around the Cambridge, NY area, so I would suspect that Samuel's first wife was the YEARNS, and was married to her while living at Fort Ann, NY. There was also an Elizabeth COVEY who died in 1778 (I think, or 1779) while Samuel and his family were displaced and living in the St Therese area of Quebec along with other Loyalists. This might be his first wife. Alot of further research is needed within the YEARNS to try to iron this out. I collected a lot of YEARNS info, but didn't get very far. They were a very elusive bunch. It is interesting to note that many of Martha Burdick Covey's siblings married and moved to New York. I am looking for the Renneslaer Co. New York connection to Alpheus Covey, born about 1802 in Renneslaer Co., later marrying and moving to Scotland Co. Missouri. His father is reported to be Alpheus Covey Sr. Does anyone have any information that would connect Alpheus Covey to the Covey's in Connecticut or Rhode Island? Any information on Alpheus Covey?

My grnadfather is John Marcus DAHLEM. I never knew him. He was born Dec. 25, 1889 in Pottridge, Kansas to Mary FAST and Henry DAHLEM. John lived in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. John married my grandmother on Nov. 28, 1925 in Tarrant County Texas. John and Cleo had a son, Billy Jack DAHLEM (my dad) b. March 9, 1927 in Maud, Pottawatamie, Oklahoma. My grandmother said John left to work on the railroads and she remarried. Cleo said he came back to get her, but . . . She said he sang on the radio in Ft. Worth. Cleo also said he had an uncle "Streeter" DAHLEM and aunt Myrle DAHLEM of Stroud Oklahoma. Cleo said Marcus was an only son(?) and his mother Mary Fast was a baker in Fort Worth. Mary and Henry divorced, she said. I have found out he died in Tulsa, Oklahma on Nov. 25, 1959 and is buried there. He was at the time married to Sylvia DAHLEM on 1720 West 37th, Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has(d) a brother E.N. DAHLEM (Wichita, Kansas), sisters: Clara DRYDEN (Stillwater OK) and Susie BUCKLAND (San Leandro, California) and three neices Beulah COVEY (Caldwell, Kansas), Thelma WRIGHT (Medicine Lodge, Kansas) and Maurice ARRIC(?) I know he was in WWI and was a member on the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma of Guthrie Oklahoma. That is as far as I can get. I never knew any DAHLEMs other that my dad and brothers. I rechecked some of my files and it appears the following is the most consistant. Whenever I find a source for information, even if it's an old family group sheet without sources I put it into the computer until it can be sorted out. Archibald COVEY married Susan HILL or Susannah HALE. The last is probably the correct one. He was born in 1784 in Alburgh, Grand Isle Co., VT and died before 1851 in PQ. Susannah died in Oct 1851. They had the following: Louisa, born about 1810 Candace, born about 1813 Pauline or Paulina Sophia, born 27 Mar 1815 in Caldwell, PQ, Canada and died 6 June 1897 in Corinth, Orange Co., VT. She married on 9 Feb 1837 to John Sanborn. Gilbert, born 1817 Elizabeth, born 1819 SAmuel, born 1821 and possibly an Archibald? I can't fill in any blanks for John Clayton Covey. The only thing I have is a marriage for his parents on 3 Jul 1822, Guilford Co., NC. I don't have anything to help in sorting out the information on Samantha Covey which Larry listed. Perhaps a query in the newsletter would help. There are many people who don't have access to this list. I'll keep plugging away. Rita
