Hi! I'm trying to find out how the COVEY family fits in with my COOKSON family who lived in the Lawrence/Methuen areas of Mass. ca. 1880 or so. There was talk that the COVEY family had adopted one of our COOKSON boys. Anyone out there know anything about this or anything else that pertains to these two families? Thanks much! Carol Ann Grenier Turner Santa Clara, Calif.

I held on to it in case I was able to use it to make a connection someday. Blue Earth County Enterprise; Aug 5, 1954 Vol #11 Mapleton, MN John Covey of Sterling Passes at Age of 70 The community is mourning the passing og one of its best known residents, John Covey, of Sterling who died last Thrusday morning at a Mankato Hospital. While not in the best of health for some time, he had gone to the hospital for treatment, only to become very ill and death came to relieve his suffering. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the Presbyterian church at Amboy. Memebers of the Amboy Odd Fellows lodge of which Mr. Covey was a member had charge of the committal services. Internment was in the Sterling cemetery. The remains, which were brought from the hospital to the Cronen Mortuary, were taken to the Covey home Saturday morning where they lay in state until the time of the funeral. Mr. Covey who was 70 years of age, was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 8, 1883. For most of his life he has lived on the farm in Sterling. being recognized among his neighbors for his fine sirit of friendliness, his kindley deeds and generous hospitality. His passing brings sorrow to a large circle of friends. Besides his wife, the former Inez Lamp, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ella Weerts of Mankato; Mrs. Mary Jahnz, of Good Thunder and Mrs. Mildred Hill of Ceylon. His sons are Charles Covey of Colorado Springs, Colorado, George Covey of Amboy, and Richard Covey of Sterling. He has one sister, Mrs. Charles Lewis, of Sioux City, Iowa. My great grandfather, Clifford Covey, lived in Mapleton twp, MN from about 1871 until about 1887 and Married Nora Foster, daughter of Warren Foster there in 1871. Nora's sister, Melissa Foster married Richard Annis there in the late 1800's as well. If you run into anything that might connect these two Coveys please let me know. Paul

I'm afraid I don't really have too much on Reynolds, and nothing on a Rufus.

Stephen and Eliza had Jenny, she married Issac Hilliker Jr. they had Herbert Hilliker, Blanch Hilliker(who married a Snow) Herbert and Jennys' daughter was my grandmother Doris Hilliker, she married Leonard Reynolds of swanton vt, my Dad is also named Leonard. They knew they were native people and the Partlows also married into the Medors and the Bohannons. Homer St. Francis' widow Patsy is a descendant of Charles Partlow, Elizas' brother . Brent Reader an abenaki speaker also descendas from this line. The other names in the records mention Burk, Olena, and VosBurg i can get the first names if you want them. Pam I am searching for a Rufus Reynolds that was cousins to the St. Armand and Friesburg Reynolds who were Anglican. Rufus was born about 1820 somewhere in Ontario and then moves down to Quebec and marries Sarah Marriah Morits in 1841 in Milton VT he goes back to Ontario has my ancestor Oscar in 1850 then moves to St.Armond i! n 1852 then settles near a coisin in Frankin VT. They have about 20 children but I could never find out who rufus' parents are. I think he is the grandchildof Caleb Reynolds Jr who was with Butlers' Rangers as this is the only branch of that Reynolds bunch go to ontario. Also Sarah Morits I can not find a birth or death Certificate for her . Our family says she was full native and as I understand it the Morits' are the source of the Native blood for Chief Blackie Lampmans (deceased) family) I have several branches of Lampman as well. later this season i will be ice fishing up that way so if some one wants me to do a lookup its OK
