He was married to Eliza Ann Severn and Emily Walters. James was the son of Nancy Ann Douthitt and William Covey. William Covey was born on July 25, 1811, married on June 28, 1838 in Washington Co., OH, and died on August 2, 1884. I have been told he lived in Tell City (Lillydale), Perry Co., IN. William Covey was the son of Mary/Polly Bennett (b. April 21, 1782) and Kingsbury Covey I (b. April 12, 1775). They married on February 17, 1799 and were living in Chenango County, NY in 1800. They lived in Cayuga County, NY before moving to Washington County, OH sometime between 1817-1820. Kingsbury Covey I owned a sawmill on Fifteen Creek in Lawrence Township, Washington County, OH. He died in 1840. His wife Mary/Polly Bennett Covey is living with her son William Covey in the 1850 Lawrence Township, Washington County, OH census. Your James Covey is listed as one of the children. I have not been able to locate where Mary/Polly and Kingsbury Covey I are buried but am still looking. My guess is that they may be buried on the old Covey farm without a tombstone. Kingsbury Covey II and Kingsbury Covey III are buried in the Lynch Cemetery in Fearing Township, Washington County, OH. If you contact me directly, I can put you in touch with a person who has a photo of William Covey, the father of James Covey.

I enjoy buying lovely old pictures like these (with names on the back and locations on the front) from antique dealers and locating descendants/family members so that I can re-unite them, for only my costs, with people who will treasure them. The picture was taken in approximately 1890 + or - a few years, and it was taken by the Huebinger Studio, 600 Main st., Peoria, IL. Frank is wearing a shirt, tie, vest and outercoat. He has brown hair, and wears a mustache. The picture is in very good condition and is an original (not a copy), although it seems to be dimming a bit after these 110 years. The picture is 4-1/4” x 6-1/2” and is mounted on heavy cardboard as was typical during those days. If Frank is in your family line or if you can relate to the Covey family in the area of Peoria County, IL, please contact me directly at margerice@prodigy.net and I will get back to you shortly.
