I have arranged for messages which are placed onto the Cousineau message board to appear on the list. This is called -gatewayed or opening the gate between message board and list. I have the list set so that replies will go to the person who wrote the original message. If you want a reply to go to the list , you must be sure that the list address is in the TO: line . If you reply only to the list, in response to a Message board post, the person who wrote the original post to the message board , will never see it unless they also belong to the list. I am hoping for more list activity since there are so few people subscribed to our list. Please remember that I want each of you to post something monthly. Thank you for using our list. Hi Mary I don't know if you are aware of it, but many of the surname forums on Rootsweb are set up so a message posted to the forum is automatically sent to the equivalent surname list. This way a message can be posted to the forum and everyone who subscribes to the list will also receive a copy of the message. Personally I would like to see all the surname forum's and lists set up this way. It is my belief that someone just starting out in genealogy will be able to find a surname forum a lot easier that they'll be able to find the list archives.for a particular surname. I don't know how you get the forum and list linked together but Rootsweb should be able to help you. I would also like to suggest that anyone who finds a Cousineau obituary post it to the forum/list. I have been finding that many of the newspapers are starting to charge to view their archives. Most of them will let you view an obituary for free for the a short period of time and after that time is up, they won't let you view it unless you pay approximately $3. If we can catch them during the free period and post them to the forum/list then they will be there indefinitely for future researchers to view without having to pay a fee. Dear Cousins and List subscribers, I see more and more people posting to the message boards and less and less to the list. as listowner I want to stir up some activity. I know you guys can post more. I am going to ask each subscriber, to post one message a month to the list. I don't think this will be a burden on you. I understand that some of us are sick, some may be moving, some may have broken computer some of us may have family sickness. Life does happen and I'm not going to keep track. Love to everyone Mary Harkey Russell bird@glasgow-ky.com http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bird
I am looking for information on a Rosalie COUSINEAU. According to my great grandfather's death certificate, this was his mother's maiden name. No place of birth for Rosalie is given on this death certificate, however, census information states her place of birth as Vermont. Rosalie married Peter DOUGLAS(S). Their son, Frank, is my great grandfather. Both Peter and Frank are also believed to have been born in Vermont, however, I have not been able to locate a record of birth for either. I would estimate Rosalie's date of birth to be in the mid 1830s. If anyone can shed any light on this family, I would be most grateful. Jennifer
This list and the message boards for it were up for adoption and I took both. It appears to be a small list and I think they need tender loving care so they can grow. I have one Cousineau name back in my genealogy and I know one man who is named Cousino in California. I live in Kentucky. I hope that you will tell your cousins and friends who may be interested in genealogy of this surname about the list and message boards. I have set the list to show information about the boards and how to reach me at the bottom of each message. If you have any questions please feel free to write to me or to the list.
