Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/jJQ.2ACIB/187.1.1.1.2.1.3 Message Board Post: I have Massachusetts census records for 1920 & 1930 for a Emile Cousineau. On the New Bedford City 1920 census there is an Emile Cousineau 39, coming to the states in 1900 and being nationalized in 1915, no children listed, works in a Cotton Mill, having Sarah 42 for a wife, who came to the states in 1910 also nationalized in 1915. Falls River 1930 census Emile Cousineau is 43, works as a Druggist in a Drug Store, is married to Florence 45,and has a son Phillip listed for his age 5/12, there are other children. I believe this one to be your father. These can't be the same man with different wives as I have Emile marrying Florence on January 11, 1910. Can you clarify any of this for me? I also have found the name as Guynot but as my name is Janet you will see my name as Jan everywhere except on legal documents. In my family data I use legal names when I know what they are. Census quite often have nicknames listed if I am not sure I use the nickname as I am sure many others do. My grandfather is listed as Fritz ( which was a life long nickname) on the 1900 census. Everyone thought his name was Fred because that's what he always used on all documents. Legal birth documents show his name was Joseph Arthur Ferdinand Cousineau. In my data I have Guynot, also known as Guy. I have my grandfather as Fred. In additional information is where I have his birth facts and name listed as no one in the family would know him if I listed him any other way. Jan

What is it? Guy or Guynot Cousineau. My brother did extensive research throughout Quebec by visiting all the cities and towns wherever his research took him. It was always Guynot who married Marie Pepuchon. I'm descended from the New England clan of Cousineaus. My father, Emile Cousineau, emigrated to Fall River, Massachusetts in 1900. His father was Joseph Cousineau. I'll be glad to hear from anybody out there who cares to reply. Thanks.
