On January 7th Ancestry/Rootsweb announced that beginning March 2nd, 2020, they will discontinue their Mail Lists functionality. Upon receiving this notice Paul L. LeBlanc immediately began searching for another website that could accommodate the mailing list format he uses on Rootsweb. After much research, he determined Google Groups was the best option. So he has created two new public Google groups: “Our Acadian Roots” and “Our Louisiana Roots”, which between them will consolidate 77 Acadian and Cajun, 10 uniquely Louisiana, many French surname, and 32 Louisiana Parish Lists. The new consolidated Genealogy research/discussion groups will focus not only on Acadian and Louisiana ancestors, but also on "All Early French in North America". Come visit the groups' new websites and take a look at the new format: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ouracadianroots or https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ourlouisianaroots If you would then like join either or both of them, just click "Join group to post" located at the top left of the page. If any questions or problem joining contact Paul at pleblan@aim.com If you would like to create your own "OUR ______ ROOTS" Google Group for your family or Parish/County, contact me at pleblan@aim.com . I may have some ideas to help you get started. In addition, we may be able to add your new group to our new and expanding research family. For more information, Paul L LeBlanc at pleblan@aim.com
Hi, A sad thing is that Ancestry is closing down inactive lists, there is much discussion on our listowners list about this but nothing we can seem to do about it. As list-owner , I don’t have a Cousineau ancestor I will try to put some chatter on this list weekly to keep it alive. I invite you to become a little more active. Put on the list the names of your ancestors any stories you want to post about them . I know we are about to start a new year, it is a busy time but I do think our list needs to keep going. Maybe post something this week or next week or next January or February. A few posts will be all it takes. Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.cousineau/302/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Trying to help my cousin trace her ancestry back a few generations. I see on this board that there is a lot of information on the Cousineaus in Canada as well as sources and family trees. The ancestor that I am starting with is Irene Cousineau b.1897 d. 1920. Her parents are Marcel? Michael Cousineau b.June 1863 and Delia/Delina/Delima Brabant b.May 1867 and M. 27 Aug. 1883, Anderdon, Essex, Canada. According to the 1900-1910 Fed. Census, Michael was b. in Michigan. It appears that Michael's parents were Tousant Cousineau and Juline Drullard. Her parents were Joseph Brabant/Brobant and Heneretta Jubanville. Both sets of parents seem to be from Canada. My Question is, does anyone have any info on this family so they can help me fill in some of the blanks and maybe back another generation or two? I have a personal reason for researching Frank & his family - my mother-in-law is Franks daughter. Her name is Stella, she was born January 6,1945 in Paris,TX. Frank & her mother Ollie Mae Smith were never married so this is a side of the family we don't know anything about. Her mother Ollie who would know the most about Frank is in a nursing home with Alzheimer's.I would love to be able to collaborate with anyone related to this Cousineau family having Frank in their lines. We do know that Frank was married with children at the time of my mother-in-laws birth - Frank may have had a son named Tom Cousineau who was a professional football player now on city council in Ohio.
