I have an interest in the surname FORD, from around the Kinsale area. Co. Cork My g.g.grandfather was John FORD b. Kinsale area, c. 1834. His father was Daniel FORD, a Farmer by occupation. I found John FORD on the 1861 census. living in Stroud, Gloucestershire, England, with his first wife, Mary, maiden name unknown, b. Queenstown, Co. Cork. c. 1828, and their daughter, Mary Ann, b. Newport, Wales, in 1857. Mary FORD died late in 1861 and John FORD remarried. The second marriage certificate shows that Daniel FORD, his father, was deceased. Place of birth and death unknown. I do know that when John Ford re-married in 1862 that the ceremony took place at the Catholic Church in Stroud, but after his early death in January 1871, which, incidentally, occurred 5 months before the birth of his second son, Percival John Daniel FORD, who became my grandfather, Emma FORD, his widow, brought the children up as Protestants. I have no record of his first marriage, or where it took place, and Mary Ann FORD remains a bit of a mystery! Regards, Jane Joy. Scotland..
