Hello again! I am researching the MANNING and KENNEDY surnames of Upper Rivers Town, County Cork Ireland. Michael MANNING and Elizabeth KENNEDY were married in Ireland (approximately 1833) and immigrated to New York (Duchess County) in 1846. They went on to Will County, Illinois. Michael Manning and Elizabeth Kennedy had the following children, all born in Upper Rivers Town, County Cork, Ireland: Michael (1833), William (1835), Joanna (Hannah) (1840/41) and Thomas (1844). I am also trying to ascertain whether Upper Rivers Town still exists, and if it is in Glanmire, in the parish of Ratcooney. Thanks! Lori
Hi Lorri, Glanmire and Riverstown are adjacent to each other about five miles north-east of Cork city. Upper Riverstown and Upper Glanmire would be in the general area of Rathcooney. If Michael and Elizabeth were Roman Catholic you may find records at St. Michael's Church Upper Glanmire which dates back to 1808. The most recent Catholic Directory that I have gives the Parish Priest there as Very Rev. Fr. Michael O'Driscoll. The other priest there is Rev. Patrick Hickey CC who has an e-mail address hicgl@iol.ie Good luck. Regards, Brendan Jones. ----- Original Message ----- From: Lori Stevens <ladyminx@ourmixedroots.com> To: <CountyCork-L@rootsweb.com> > > I am researching the MANNING and KENNEDY surnames of Upper Rivers Town, County Cork Ireland. > > I am also trying to ascertain whether Upper Rivers Town still exists, and if it is in Glanmire, in the parish of Ratcooney. > > Thanks!
