My grandmother, Margaret Lane, was born in the townland of Kildarra in the civil parish of Ballinadee, but her baptism in 1867, as well as the marriage of her parents, Michael and Mary G. Cahalane, took place at St. Mary's in Innishannon, the other side of the River Bandon from their home. Michael Lane was the son of John Lane and Margaret Galavan and was born about 1834. His known siblings were: Dennis Lane, born about 1828, emigrated to New York 1891 with his wife Ellen Coleman and three children; Honora, 23, John, 22, and Cornelius, 19. Henry Lane, born 1829 in Co. Cork, emigrated to Somerville, Massachusetts and married Mary Meehan. John H. Lane, born 1831 in Co. Cork, emigrated to Somerville, Mass. and married Ellen C. Connors. -dja
Does anyone know of Maurice LANE, merchant, who appears on a marriage deed in our family.? It was the 1822 marriage of John MURRAY and Mary Ann DALY, daughter of Maurice DALY, timber merchant of Cork city.
