I wonder if you could kindly help me find further information re my 2 xGtgrandfather John Fitzgerald, who was born Ballydahene Mallow c1820 and married Mary Corbett at St Mary's RC church Mallow, in 1850.. John and Mary's father's John Fitzgerald and Patrick Corbett were town commissioners in Mallow c1846 and are mentioned in some of the local newspapers of that time, one article actually describing Patrick Corbett's home on the eve of a celebration. I engaged a local historian to carry out some research for me but it took month's for him to come back with very little, I am hoping to visit Mallow this spring but would love to be armed with more information that could be followed up with any Fitzgerald's I may find still living in Mallow. John and Mary had several children, inc Connor (known as Cornelius) John, Mary, Johanna , Abigail (known as Deborah, Julia and Hannah. The family were living at Fair Street Mallow c1850, John's father leased many properties from C>J Norrey's in Mallow and lackanaloo, as did Patrick Corbett. Walter Fitzgerald was a sponsor at one of the children's baptism's at St Mary's. I feel with so much information this family must be well documented somewhere. The family, but not all the children arrived in Manchester UK c1877. Any help gratefully appreciated. Kind regards June ( Fitzgerald)
