My grandfather, William James MacCabe left County Cork for New York in 1895. He was one of 13 children of Thomas MacCabe (1845-1929) and Annie Searls (1846-1927) of Bandon, County Cork. Thomas and Annie were married in 1866 at Ballymodan. Thomas was a shopkeeper, auctioneer, insurance agent, emigration agent, and a leading citizen of Bandon. For a number of years he also had a shop on the Grand Parade in Cork City. Thomas was the child of Isaac MacCabe (1808-1892) and Catherine Jones (1814-1879) who were married in Midleton in 1836. Isaac was the son of Isaac McCabe (ca.1780-1810) and Ann FITZGERALD of Ballymodan, Bandon. Annie was the daughter of Richard Searls (1805-1853) and Elizabeth Lee of Bandon who were married at Kilbrogan in 1835. I am interested in sharing information on these families with near and distant cousins. Good luck in the eternal quest for ancestors. Best wishes, David MacCabe Austin, Texas USA
