My mother's maiden name was WHOLEY. She was the daughter of Arthur Ernest WHOLEY, son of publican Robert Jarvis WHOLEY of Sculcoates, Hull, Yorkshire. Without going through the whole panoply, he was descended from Gervaise WHOLEY who married Mary CROSBY at Branston, Lincs on 23rd November 1797. I've not been able to trace Gervaise further back than this. However, I've recently learned that it is possible that his ancestry may lie in County Cork and that I should pursue enquiries there. Is ther anyone on this list with an interest in this surname and/or anyone who might be able to offer me some suggestions as to how I might proceed? the older of the tworobbos
