Death notices of Irish immigrants in American, Canadian and Australian newspapers sometimes carried the notation "Cork papers please copy". The reverse was also true and in Irish papers can be found variants of the phrase "American [or Australian, etc.] papers please copy." The Irish press all subscribed to various foreign papers and would use them for a source of news stories that may be of interest. It was a common practice to reprint death notices as requested. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dennis Ahern | Ireland Newspaper Abstracts Acton, Massachusetts | http://www.IrelandOldNews.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
