Family history has it that my great grandfather, William Newman, was from somewhere in Co Cork. Apart from knowing that his father’s name was John Newman (who was a general labourer) and that he was born some time around 1863 (+/- a few years), we know nothing about him before his marriage to Mary Ann Quinn on 21st May 1887 in South Stoneham, Hampshire, UK. William Newman died age 57 at 24 Back Station Road, Hebburn-on-Tyne, Co Durham, UK. His occupation given as 'Labourer - Ship Platters Helper'. Anyone out there got any links?
