    3. Since we are talking about Mitchelstown, I have another question. Is there a logical place in Australia to look for an emigrant from Mitchelstown? Reason I ask is that my grandmother's sister supposedly emigrated to Australia from there. I have a possible name but no idea how to get started in Australia. My grandmother came to the US from Mitchelstown in 1899. She told us she did that because her sister had already gone to Australia and there was nothing left in Ireland. I'd guess her sister left not too long before 1899, but don't have any date. I think my grandmother came to the US to join a cousin in NYC. That cousin immigrated to the US from Ireland in 1895, if I have the right person for that cousin. My grandmother was Kate (Catherine Norris). Her parents, I believe, were Patrick Norris and Ann Baily. Her cousin in NYC, I believe, was Nellie Condon, b. ca. 1877. The sister most likely to have gone to Australia was Ellen Norris, b. 1871. 3. Loreen, The Aussie listers are extremely helpful. I might suggest you subscribe to the AUSTRALIA-NEW-ZEALAND list and post the information you have. They don't have census records as the US does, but they have a lot of other sources. Many of them have CDs of government records to include birth, marriages, and deaths for the various states and willing do lookups. With what you have told us, they may be able to track Ellen Norris down. I have found the Aussie listers to be some of the most helpful anywhere on Rootsweb.
