G'day from Australia I would really appreciate some help in getting some direction in my research. Here is what I know. Patrick Murphy was married to Catherine McCarthy and in 1845 was working as a tailor in Queenstown (Cobh). They had children as follows; Margaret Ann 1835 Thomas 1836 Alice 1839 John 1841 John Joseph 1844 Catherine 1846 Charles 1848 I found these details through the Mallow Heritage Centre and they state that their births were recorded in the Cobh Parish. They couldn't find any details of the marriage of Patrick or Catherine or of the birth of their first child Maria who was born in 1834. So I guess that my question is if they weren't recorded in the Cobh Parish, where else could I look for them? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I guess a second question where would be the best place to search for marriage/ deaths etc for the other children? Maria, Margaret and Alice all came to Australia and I can't find any record of the others migrating here. I also thought that as Charles was an unusual Irish name he would stick out. Dear Ian,   I've found answers on Familysearch.org  and also Ancestry.com (which has a fee).  Good luck.  My Murphys are in the late 1800's.  I also got great information in the 'Irish Census of 1911.'
