Thank you, Patsy and Ron. Great info and links (never thought to vary Lennon). Did the Griffith's Valuation include everyone, even those without land? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patricia O'Shea" <pkoshea@xtra.co.nz> To: countycork@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, November 3, 2009 10:17:19 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: Re: [CO CORK] Killians in County Cork Hello Bethane - the Griffiths Valuation of Ireland, taken between 1847 and 1864 (roughly) has no KILLIANs in Co Cork that I can see. Similarly the IGI search brings up no entries for Co Cork. The name seems to be centred largely in Roscommon, Longford and Galway, with a few in West Meath and a few more in Ulster. You might like to have a look if you haven't already: http://www.failteromhat.com/ is a good site for the Griffiths, just go to Census/Directories and scroll down. I didn't see any likely entries in the LDS 1880 US census - have you located them in that year? Hello again. I understand that occupiers were listed which covers those who did not actually own land, but that may not include absolutely everyone. There is a good explanation on the Origins Network site: http://www.irishorigins.com/ This is a subscription site but you can access the explanation etc for free.
