Bev, You may already have this and it may be that it is the wrong time or family but the following is on the www.familysearch.org site. George Rollins (Rawlins) & Mary Coughlan had a son Samuel born 22 Jun 1865 in the Durrus/Kilcrohane district. William Rawlins & Elizabeth Cole married in 1876 in Bantry Registration District Volume 10 Page 13 had twins Frances Kathleen & Francis George born 3 Mar 1878 in Dromgarriff (mispelled Dromgaugh), Kilmocomoge, Bantry Registration District FHL Microfilm #C701266 & #0101114. The connection though tenuous may be there because of the George in both families and the scarcity of Rawlins in the Durrus/Bantry area.. The possible interpretation is that William is a younger brother of George. Bill Fahy www.westcorkgenealogy.com
Hi Bill, Yes, I have seen these but haven't as yet been able to match up all the pieces. I recall my grandparents talking about the family when I was very young. I vaguely remember a "George" mentioned. The family of George Henry Rawlins and Harriet Orr Rawlins had a number of children. One of their sons, also a George Henry had a son named Samuel born circa 1884. Apparently, Harriet had a brother Samuel. As for George and Mary Rollins....I would love to know more about them. One real problem for me is that my Samuel left Ireland on the Tripoli when he was in his early 20s. He also spent several years "at sea" before settling down in the US. I have not been able to find a marriage record for him in Brooklyn. Many of the records that have been found for the children of George and Harriet Rawlins center around their marriage announcements and subsequent baptisms of children. I keep hoping that searching possible "collateral lines" may turn up clues. Thanks so much for the info. Have a wonderful holiday!!
