    1. Re: [CO CORK] BEAMISH, SWANTON, RAYCROFT, SHANNON plus DUKELOW

    3. Hello, I too am trying to discern what area in County Cork my ggg DUKELOW protestant grandparents emigrated from to Canada. Our line may also come from Schull/Ballydehob or Skibbereen/Creag areas. I have a few listings of Beamish and Raycroft married to my Dukelow family here in Canada. My ggg grandfather PETER DUKELOW appears to have arrived around 1829 according to his youngest daughter's obituary. I suspect that members of this family worked on the Rideau Canal. They later moved on to Leeds-Grenville area, specifically Spencerville and Prescott. Some moved on from there by 1851 to 1860 to Perth County. Have you searched the Drouin Records available on Ancestry? I found only one Dukelow (a burial of a toddler in 1832) but there are quite a few Swanton, Raycroft and Beamish surnames. The actual record can be viewed (burials, baptisms, marriages). I hope that may help you. My goal is to find the Irish parish records that show the births of Peter's children. I know when they were born, it's just where?? However, my information is that some parish records are gone (burned) such as Creagh's, and those surviving are held at the Church Representative Library in Dublin. However, without knowing the parish, it's hard to find the records, as there is no name index. Perhaps one day the church will index the bmd so that it is not such a difficult search. (Hope springs!) It seems you and I are probably searching the same areas. If you should come across any Dukelow records, I'd be very interested. If you are interested in my listings of Beamish/Raycroft etc., please let me know and I'll forward you the details. Good hunting! April in BC ----- Original Message ----- From: "P.
