Hello Dave and thank you! I have tried the Mallow Centre a few years ago with no luck, but with more records available now, there is always a chance, I think at the time I didn't have the birth town of Clonakilty - to confuse matters more John O'Brien in his latter years lived in a house called 'Castlemaine' which I believe is in County Kerry! The whole family is adamant that they hail from Cork though! As you mentioned - every family has the same first names! I won't give up though! Thanks again, Julie
Hello Julie - you possibly know already that Mallow Heritage Centre does not cover Clonakilty. Those records do exist however - they have been filmed and should be available for viewing in person at the National Library (NLI) in Dublin. They cover: Baptisms 3rd Aug 1809- 31st Dec 1880 Marriages 8th Jan 1811 - 17th Nov 1880 Reference POS 4773 (NLI) (from Grenham 'Tracing Your Irish Ancestors' 3rd Edition) Hope this is useful.
