    1. [Cork] Registration Districts
    2. If one knows the townland in which a death or marriage occurred, is there a way to determine what the Registration District would have been? Thanks for any help! Kay

    3. Kay, If you have the correct spelling of the townland and hopefully the county you are in good shape. If you do not have the correct spelling and/or the county there is still hope. Go to www.seanruad.com and enter the name of the townland and the county and submit the entry. The resulting display will usually give you, as the last item on the right, the designation PLU (Poor Law Union) which 99% of the time is the Registration District. If you are not sure of the spelling of the townland or the townland cannot be found input the first three, four or five letters and check the type of search, on the right, as beginning of field, and you will get a listing of possible townlands. It is then just a process of elimination to decide which one is closest to yours and the end column will give you the PLU or Registration District. Bill Fahy
