    3. The short answer is: 1) collect EVERY extant US record; 2) purchase a guide to doing Irish research, such as are listed on Cyndislist.com; 3) determine the exact location using http://www.seanruad.com/ The Blackwater river flows right by Mallow, as you can see on a map or in an atlas. I am not familiar with Glentainn (although it sounds rather like Glountane where my own ancestors lived, south of Mallow). You do not say, but it sounds as if they were Roman Catholic. The Heritage Center in Mallow could probably do some work for you (for a fee) if this all sounds too complicated. What you need (after you have collected everything here) are the parish records, baptisms and marriages. If they were in Mallow, you are lucky as the records go back to that period. Good luck. I am trying to find leads on the Murphy part of my family. I have a Patrick Murphy born in approx. 1806 in Ireland. He married Hannah Catherine Mulchinach (I believe she went by Catherine though). She was born in approx. 1810 in Ireland. Patrick drowned to death in the Blackwater or Blackbackwater River in Ireland probably sometime after 1836 and 1864. They had approx. 3 sons and 1 daugther. Their daughter, also named Hannah Catherine Murphy was born 17 January 1836 in Glentainn County Cork, Ireland. Daughter Hannah immigrated to Sandy Hook, NY in approx. 1851. The three sons of Hannah and Patrick Murphy are Patrick, John, and Edmund. In 1864, daughter Hannah brought her mother Hannah and two of the brothers (John and Patrick) to the US. Daughter Hannah married in 1857 to John Sharp(e) and moved with him to Evanston, IL. Mother Hannah died November 1883 in Chicago IL and was buried 19 November 1883 in Calvary Cemetary in Chicago, IL. I am interested in any specific dates (birth/death/christening etc) on Patrick MURPHY and Hannah Catherine (Mulchinach) MURPHY. I am also interested in any information related to the details of Patricks death--all I have is that he drowned in a River....one accounting tells me it is the Blackwater River and another says it is the Blackbackwater River...both note it is in Mallow County Cork Ireland. Any details on Patrick or Hannahs parents or siblings would also interest me. As for Patrick and Hannahs three sons.......I do not have much information on them so any details on the three sons would also interest me. If anyone has a connection to this family and would like the details of the family in the US from daughter Hannah Murphy and her husband John Sharp to the present time, please send me a personal email request at suzyking@aol.com and I would be delighted to provide you with my research as I currently have a detailed report on them. Thanks, Suzy<
