Hi listers I am trying to find information about my ancestor JANE AVIS. Jane was born about 1806, and gives her place of birth as City of Cork, Ireland on the 1851 census for Helmingham, Suffolk, England. Jane married RICHARD BRUNNING at Helmingham in 1824, and was "of the parish" at this time. Jane was protestant, and may have earned her Helmingham parish status by working there for a year, but I wonder if she could have been born in Ireland of English parents, possibly military, or whether she just came to England to work. If anyone knows of any AVIS families of this time in Cork, I would love to hear from them.
