    1. [Cork] Looking for John & Mary in Cork
    2. Francine G. Weeks
    3. Hi! We are planning to make our first trip to Ireland and will be gone for a week beginning on September 15th. Such a short time.....so much beauty to behold! I'm trying to locate my gr-grandfather, whose birthplace was County Cork - 1824. So simple a task had his name had been Moosebreath Hoffenreffer; sadly, however, it was John Sullivan. Then, circa 1857, John married a gal named Mary (O'Connor). 2nd wife? The only clues I have are that when they emigrated to the U.S., he worked as a weaver in various cotton mills in the northeast, as did his children. Their first child, Mary E. Sullivan, was born in Kenmare circa 1858, followed by Hannah & James; therefore, my questions are: 1. In what places in Co. Cork did they employ weavers in the 1840s & 1850s? 2. Does anyone know anything about any of these Sullivan folks who emigrated to the U.S. early in the 1860s. This will probably be the last trip for my husband and me as we both have health issues. It was a 40th anniversary gift from our wonderful children, and we are just thrilled. Thank you very much for reading this and for any suggestions that you might offer. Fran Weeks
