Hi Listers I'm researching my family and am interested in any information about "Shine" families who emigrated from county Cork to the Dudley area west of Birmingham UK in the 1840s. I've located 4 of these families on the 1861 census all living in Campbell Street but cannot establish any relationship between the families themselves. However, of particular interest to me is the whereabouts of one Daniel Shine whom, I believe, is my GGF. Despite searching the whole of the 1861 census Dudley area I cannot find him (although some of the film is very difficult to read). Other facts about Daniel Shine:- One Daniel Shine married a Mary Kelly in Birmingham (Index Entry 1851 Mar 16 402) - marriage cert to be obtained. I have the birth cert of Cornelius Patrick Shine b 14/3/1854 at Stone Street Dudley. Father Daniel Shine. Mother Mary Shine formerly Kelly. (Cornelius Patrick may have been my GF) 1881 census shows a family with Sarah Kelly (Head) Daniel Shine (Sonl) Mary Shine (Daur) and 2 Shine gchildren (but not Cornelius Patrick who would have been 27 by now) living in Hall Carr Street Brightside Bierlow (Sheffield). If anyone can help I'd be most grateful of any info esp the whereabouts of Daniel and Mary between 1861 and 1881. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two more bits. During my many visits to the FRC in London, I have been recording BMD index entries for the Shine surname. I have recorded from Sept 1837 to Sept 1957(births), Dec 1955(marriages), Dec 1946(deaths). I'm happy to supply info to anyone. Does anyone know the whereabouts of a Henry Alfred Shine, b 19/4/1922 in Battersea, London, last known to be living in Lisbon, Portugal in October 1971? Regards and thanks in anticipation BRS
