May I trouble SKS to look for a birth in the Catholic church for a John ARKINS who was born c1828, in CO CORK, for the names of parents of John, please. John said on 5 birth certificates of his children...[all born in Australia]. He came to VIC, Australia, in 1838/9 as a 9/10 year old. The names of the 1st son of JOHN were John Charles, and the 2nd son was named Thomas Henry. John didn't ever reveal the names of his parents or grand parents to his children. When he died in Newcastle, NSW, Australia,1896, his eldest son as informant put U/K, U/K for parents and details. This has now proved a 'brick wall' ...over the years I have found that in the late 1840's he moved to Maitland, NSW, Australia.
