Following on all the current interest in the Blackwater-Fermoy area. I am looking to verify if this is my Lyons family. Original research details: Patrick William Lyons - sometimes referred to as Patrick other times referred to as William. First turns up in Balan Victoria in 1862 as witness to a marriage of John Dwyer, brother of the girl that he eventually marries. His birth age is approx 1835/36. He marries in New Zealand a Bridget Dwyer from Borrisoleigh, Tipperary (she's pregnant so they both left Victoria) 1866. On his marriage certificate it states he is from Fermoy and his father is John Lyons. After requesting three seperate searches through Mallow Heritage Centre, and a coup;e of trips myself to Ireland and a number of letters to parish priests I believe he belongs to the following family. William Lyons born 1835 son of John Lyons and Ellen Sullivan (married 1833 Mtichelstown) siblings John Lyons 1837, Elizabeth 1840 (Or is this Alice see 1851 griffiths for Kilworth) Ellen 1842 and Martin 1845. Other sponsor names associated with this family include Condon, Mackey, Bowler, Hogan, Mohir, Lynch and Kelleher. I will be traveling to the area in May and am hoping to further confirm that the family from Mitchelstown/Kilworth is the family of Patrick William Lyons 1835-1910 buried in Victoria Australia Gay O'Neill Western Australia _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
