I don't know any genealogists that I can recommend in that area, but I can tell you that you are doing the right thing asking for recommendations. You have to be very careful who you contract to research for you. I've just been bitten - a genealogist approached me after seeing one of my messages on another rootsweb board - and after looking at their website, I decided to take up their offer of help (they appeared above board, and high profile etc). Sadly, this experience has now made me very wary . . . be careful of paying money upfront, and be doubly careful of accepting an email offer from someone, without personally checking out references and recommendations. I live in New Zealand, so being 12,000 miles away makes it very easy to be taken for a ride. Just commonsense I guess - maybe I was too trusting? Hope you have lots of success!
