On his naturalization petition, my great great grandfather recorded Ballyard as his most recent residence before coming to the US. What appears to be his brother simply listed Cork. I can't find reference to Ballyard anywhere. Has anyone ever seen that as a parish or townland name? Thanks/
I have just joined this Global Meeting Place, and not quite sure WHERE to begin, searching for my Mother's side of the family, I suppose it will be like a child, 'one step at a time'. For the last couple of years I have been searching for my English Paternal side, and have received a great deal of help, by belonging to a Family History Society, for a yearly subscription, I receive a quarterly Journal, and belong to a Global Meeting Place. I would like to know if a member can tell me if there is such a web-site for Cork. Reading a message from a member inquiring about a 'cemetery', it appears that there are various 'Districts' in County Cork !!, can someone tell me the name of the District I should be concentrating on, my Irish Grandparents lived in Industry Road, Cork. Also if it is not asking too much, could I be given the name/s of the Church [R.C of course] nearest to this street?. I know that my Grandmother went to Mass every morning, so I presume without means of transport, she would have had to walk. T.I.A for any help given. Proud of my little drop of Irish blood Phyllis Steel from Queensland, Australia.

Hi all, This is my first post to the group and I am hoping someone can help me. My great great grandfather was John Albert Crowley born in Toorinadrummond, County Cork in approximately 1824 according to his death certificate. Can anyone tell me where Toorinadrummond is? Also - his parents were Timothy Crowley and Margaret (Murphy) Crowley and I am trying to make connection with any other relations. John came to Australia and married a Bridget Mary Agnes Noonan who was also from County Cork, Her father was Dennis Noonan and mother was Julia McGrath. I don't know where in County Cork Bridget came from - her marriage certificate just says County Cork. Kind regards, Loretta Crowley Everingham

Would there be a cemetery called KILLEENS CEMETERY, MALLOW.Any info. appreciated. Lorraine EGAN
Go to www.yahoo.com and type in "KILLEENS CEMETERY, MALLOW" without the quotes. You should get three URLS back. Select the first one that will show you that the Mallow Heritage Center counts the Cemetery inscriptions of Killen among their records available for research through them. The second one contains a recent obituary for someone buried in Kileens in St. Catherine's Cemetery. The third one contains a copy of "The Archives." If you go down several pages you will find a mention of Kileens and also an ancient cemetery there that is hitched to St. Catherine's Church, a medieval ruin from the past. Not sure of this is any help, but perhaps you will locate an inscription for an ancestor by contacting Mallow Heritage Center. On the other hand, I have explored more than a few such old cemeteries in West Cork and found severe weathering and erosion to be the norm rather than the exception. I wonder if someone out there knows if there is some way to pin point the location of an ancestor's property by the position they have on the census report of 1901? I think if I get a more detailed report from the valuation office I can get one location but one family was not there until long after the valuation, I do have them on a 1901 census. I'm going back to Ireland in Oct. and would like to know where the home was located before I get there. Regards, Nancy Kie
