    3. Dear James According to the 1999 Church Directory for the Diocese of Cork and Ross the following churches are named after St Joseph in Cork City and environs: St Josephs-Blackrock Road: tel 0214293325 St Josephs-Springhill, Glanmire tel 021-4866078 St Josephs Little Island tel 021-4353177 St Josephs Mayfield tel 021-4503531 St Josephs Church, Wilton 021-4341362 Sorry if this adds to the confusion as to where to go for your research. To add to your troubles I have a feeling that th Blackrock and Wilton churches may have limited records as these churches belong to Religious orders rather than the Diocese and for many years did not carry out Baptisms, Marriages etc. ----- Original Message ----- From: "james cawston" <jcawston@mindspring.com> To: <CountyCork-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 16, 2002 1:14 PM Subject: [Cork] Two St. Joseph's Church ?-Cork City > Are there two Saint Joseph's Catholic Churches in Cork city? > > I have sent a letter requesting a baptismal certificate for my father to St . 3. Jim, In looking at the phone book there is only one St. Joseph's and it is in Mayfield. The telephone number is 21-4503531. If you use any computerized service it should only cost you about 12 cents a minute to call and check out why you have not received an answer. If you live in the U.S. you dial direct 011-353 and then the number above. If you use the computerized mode you would precede this with the 10-10 code etc. Bill Fahy

Without a address in Cork City ,the search for the mother Charlotte Welsh in the census would be a huge undertaking. I would appreciate any suggestions on what my next step might be . 3. Thought I would pass this on - Janet did much for the genealogy world, notably helping with the RIC (Royal Irish Constabulary) indexes. --------------- Janet REAKES, noted Australian Genealogist dies at Hervey Bay aged 50 on 9 Nov 2002 - Obituary Courier Mail Brisbane (12 Nov 2002) It was with profound sadness that I have today learned of the unexpected passing of Janet, a prominent Australian Genealogist. Here she became an Icon, who in her relatively short lifetime, was also Internationally acclaimed for her valuable contribution to Family Research.   Not only was she renowned for her wide-ranging library of resources covering the many countries of our ancestors; but also was highly respected through her voluminous Publications, Media contributions and personal Genealogy Classes. She was quite a Celebrity across all States of Australia, also her outstanding skills were shared world-wide through her On-Line MyFamily.com Genealogy Classes. Janet regularly arranged groups to research in Salt Lake City UT, and was a very popular Tour Director. She was held in the highest regard by her Peers and over the years hosted quite a number of Conferences in Australia with leading overseas Genealogists as Guests of Honour. She died peacefully after a long battle with diabetes. Her Biography is briefly covered on the following website - http://www.angelfire.com/or/janetreakesgenealogy/biographical.html <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Maura Petzolt mpetzolt2@webtv.net <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> SHAMROCK ROOTS homepage http://community.webtv.net/shamrockroots/SHAMROCKROOTS Helpful Hints for Successful Searching http://community.webtv.net/mpetzolt2/helpfulhints

    3. Please do NOT respond on the list (or to him for that matter, as that is probably his goal) to the recent messages sent by a strange person about visiting his website etc. That person had already unsubbed himself from this list. (I don't know if the messages got through to the Waterford list, but it seems he is spamming most of the Irish lists) In internet terms, that was a "troll", someone who just joins a group to start a problem. The expression used to deal with this is "don't feed the trolls", in other words, don't go for the bait, just delete it and ignore it. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Maura Petzolt mpetzolt2@webtv.net <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> SHAMROCK ROOTS homepage http://community.webtv.net/shamrockroots/SHAMROCKROOTS Helpful Hints for Successful Searching http://community.webtv.net/mpetzolt2/helpfulhints

    3. Yes, it's legit. It's an e-commerce portal for all things Irish. I got lucky! I got 10 copies of the same e-mail. He must be having mouse problems! :-) alice ----- Original Message ----- From: "John and Dorothy Snuggs" <dotjohn@cyberback.com> To: <CountyCork-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 13, 2002 9:36 AM Subject: [Cork] Anyone know anything about Michael Green??? > List Members, > I received 5 identical e-mails from: Michael Green@ (Cork) Irish Nation.
