    3. Here's a possibility. There is a townland and parish named Lackeen. Spoken aloud, "Loch" and "qui" (pronounced "key") might sound like Lo(a)ckeen to a non-Irish scribe. 3. Hi All, I have to agree with Pat and Gay. Especially as I am also researching the names Lyons, Leary and O'Leary many of whom finished up in SF, CAL. and other states in the USA. I am currently chasing obits in both Ireland and USA for all of these names, and am subscribed to many USA mailing lists with mixed success. How wonderful if we could use this list for an exchange of information along these lines. The USA lists seem to be just as active as usual, but this is the first Co. Cork posting I have received in several days. In fact this list has been very quiet, and getting quieter, over the past few months. I have often wondered if we have any subscribers who actually live in Ireland? And Gay, if you think you have it hot in WA, you should be here in Townsville! Wow! A very Happy and Safe Christmas to all. 3. KELLEHER / CRONIN in County Cork I am not sure if this is the correct format and method for seeking contacts. Will someone tell me if this is not the way? My great grandmother was Margaret Kelleher. She was baptized in @1842. She was born in the parish of Clondrohid, County Cork is registered in Catholic Baptismal Register. The date 12 June 1842 is her baptismal or birth date. Her parents were: John Kelleher - father, and Mary Buckly (-Kelleher) - mother. Margaret died 02 March 1938 in Ballincollig, County Cork. Her grave is in Aghina Graveyard, Mashanaglass, near Coachford and Macroom in County Cork. My records show she was married to my grandfather John Cronin in Clondrohid in 1865. They had eight children. One child was Patrick Cronin, my grandfather. Can anyone help me in my search for Kelleher and Cronin family? Alan Scott Mikesell - (my mother was a Cronin)

    3. Pat I think a broader use of the list would be appreciated. I note that the list owner has strict rules about what is to be posted however I also note as you have that hardly anyone is posting anything. There may be a thousand subscribers to this list but as a number of listers feel uncomfortable posting a notice in case of being growled at then there may as well be no listers. I have really enjoyed your postings and more contact between Cork listers would be wonderful. Merry Christmas to all. Lyons and Sullivan researcher, Fermoy, Kilworth, Mitchelstown. Thankyou Deborah< Yes, you may rent reels of the 1901 census at your FHC. It is indexed also so look for those reels. Does any reader know if the index is on a cd? You can see what is available by going to Familysearch.com and looking under library catalog. I am guilty of this too, but remember to insert Returns at the end of each screen as you type because otherwise the incoming messages are one long long long line for many of us. Thanks. Cork. One is far from Kanturk, down near Crookstown, west of Cork City. The other Knockaneroe is in Kilmeen civil parish (the one in Duhallow barony), and is just 3 miles WSW of Kanturk town.......probably the one of interest to you. 1. [Cork] Suggestion on writing out dates
    2. Hello, I would like to make a suggestion when writing out dates. It would eliminate a lot of confusion if we wrote out the month using the three letter abbreviation instead of numbers. I would imagine most people realize that in the US and Canada numerical dates are written month/day/year while in UK, etc. it is written day/month/year. 4/7/02 could be April 7, 2002, or July 4,2002 depending on which system you use. For all the years I have been doing family history research (which is a lot) I have seen professional researchers and the PAF program use 7 Apr 2002 or 4 Jul 2002. I have found that doing it this way saves a lot of wrong dates and confusion when people are trading information and are using different dating systems. Thanks for your consideration.
