    3. Hi Eileen - My gggrandfather, Michael Geary, born c. 1800 also had a brother, Roger Geary, born 1803, both born in Gortnaskehy. As I recall there is an Owen Geary listed in Gortnaskehy in the Griffith or pre Griffith. A chart recently sent to me by my cousin in Dublin also shows an Owen Geary. I have emailed him to determine if Owen is a brother of Michael and Roger. Owen Geary is in our line. Eugene Geary of Gortnaskehy/Kilworth area assisted me in my research some years ago and his ancestor is Owen Geary. What time period is your Owen Geary? 3. Hi, Seeing Parish of Ballinamona mentioned in a post today prompts me to ask for more information about it. My G Grandparents Denis Daly and Mary Fitzgerald apparently lived at Ballynamona near Glanworth. Is this the same place? If it is, was it amalgamated with another Parish? The marriage record I have for Denis and Mary states they were married in Holy Cross Church Glanworth 15 Feb 1863. As far as I know their 11 children were all Baptised at Glanworth. Alice 1864, Michael 1866, Johana 1867, Denis 1869 my Grandfather, Bartholomew 1871, Nora 1873, John 1875, Maurice 1877, William 1879,Francis 1881, Mary 1882. Sponsers names for baptisms include, Fitzgerald, Ahern, Hooper, Howard, Hannon, O'Niell, Mulvey, Connery,Kelly,Sline, Murphy, Carroll, Griffin, Malone and Hanrahan. Does any one have any connections with these names from around Glanworth at these times. Also Driscolls,Children of John Driscoll and Ellen Donovan were Jim b1854, John b1857,Ellen b 1857 (twins),Denis John b 1859, David Baptised 11 May 1862 Glanworth. David married Johana Daly. I have some old Driscoll family photos I would love to be able to identify and share with any other Driscoll descendants out there. 1. [COUNTYCORK] Surname Cahalane? in Skibbereen 1910
    2. Sue Richart
    3. Is anyone familiar with the surname Cahalane in the Skibbereen area? I have finally found my grandmother's arrival into Boston. YES!!!! On the 5 May 1910 passenger manifest for Mary Beatts, age 24, she lists a cousin Hannah Cahalane (could be Os instead of As) as her relative back in Skibbereen. I'm not familiar with that surname. I'm going to start looking through the 1911 Skibbereen census pages tomorrow and wonder if someone might have suggestions for other versions of the surname I should be looking for. As an update on my search for Mary Bates, the Mrs. Minehane she lists as her Aunt and sponsor has a maiden name of Mary Murphy. In 1910, Mrs. Minehane has actually remarried after the death of James Minehane to a Cornelius Harrington. Right now, it is looking like Mary Bates' mother is either a Margaret Murphy (if she is the sister of Mary Murphy) or Margaret McCarthy (if she is the sister of the bachelor McCarthy brothers). Rather odd for my Irish ancestors, Mary Bates is quite consistent on her age, so she was born in either 1885 or 1886. I have ordered the 1901 Skibbereen census microfilms and maybe can find Mary Bates hiding in them as a domestic in one of the households. Thanks. Sue Richart

The buildings are still there and the company took up the whole block including both side streets to it's left and right (one is Academy St. I think). They were Hardware Merchants, and Ironmongers and it must have been a very large business. I am desperately trying to find out which John Perry this was and who his sons were.
