If you're lucky enough to live in the Boston, MA area, you can find the 1901 and 1911 Irish Censuses at the Boston Public Library and Boston College. It is also available through the LDS Family History Centers. There is an FHC finder on the LDS site <http://www.familysearch.org>. Casey is nearly impossible to index thoroughly, but Rootsweb has a link to the IGSI Casey index at <http://rootsweb.com/~irish/igsi_published/casey.htm> David Collins Hudson, MA, USA > >
try doing a search on the website for the Griffiths Land Valuation record which will show you which areas of Cork had Nevilles in the mid 19th century http://www.failteromhat.com/ If you have the names of his children in correct birth order from the US census then the first son should be named for his father who might be the head of house listed as occupying land in this record. Have you gotten a copy of his marriage record? In some cases that might have his parents listed on it. Good luck! Thanks Ron for listing more Donovans on last weeks' post. Unfortunately, they weren't my ancestors. Thanks for trying. Karen
Hello Everybody, I am wondering if anyone can advise me on how I can go ahead with my research. My Great grandmother (SARAH ANN ROSS) was widowed in 1862 (her husband DUNCAN was a soldier in the R.A.) she had a daughter MARTHA b.1858. I believe SARAH remarried to anther soldier (name unknown) in 1877 MARTHA married a soldier at KINSALE COUNTY CORK, her address was given as THE BARRACKS CORK, she is still MARTHA ROSS. How can I find out more about SARAH ANN. who did she marry? on MARTHA,S marriage certificate the wittness,s were WILLIAM SKINNER & GEORGE TUCK. are there any records that would give me names of families that were in army barracks 1862- 1877. Thank you for your time. Regards, Syd
The County Cork census is available at the County Cork Library in Cork City but how to get it searched is another matter...they do not do research there for you and I do not know how much it would cost to hire a researcher to search there......would depend how extensively you want to look I guess. I am at the stage where I now want to do a sweep of the entire county Cork Census for the two lines I work on Bryan and Wolfe but am not sure how this will be done nor how long I can wait as this is a twenty year project I think I should be wrapping up soon...if I can get genealogy unaddicted that is? Apparently they are in Dublin working on getting it on line but speed will not be a factor I expect and it may not be free......so patience is required and the FHL may get it done first....Barb ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2007 1:02 AM Subject: COUNTYCORK Digest, Vol 2, Issue 84 > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. All the films from the FHL are being digitized now by volunteers. Eventually every film will be online FREE. You may get your wish someday. Most of us at the FHC help. After you sign up you get a census form from any year and it shows up on the top half of your monitor and you copy the info on the bottom half and sent it off then go on to the next sheet. While the microfilm is available from LDS library they have the earlier records from this volume on their website - I put in the name Patrick Healy and came up with several from Ballyvourney to find - go to www.familysearch.org click advanced search Click search on International Genealogical Index Put in Healy or Healey British Isles - Ireland - Cork then the batch number . You do not need to put in first name - I had 183 listed - click on name and it will usually give both parents with mother's maiden name. C700761 - seems to be the records from 1810-1868 I found three children with these parents Tim in 1830, an unnamed child in 1856 along with your Julia. Later records would be in the civil registration some of which is on line there also. Good luck - you may have already tried this. I would also google the name of the books - some large libraries have them - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sharie Paulson" <[email protected]> To: "Ireland, County Cork" <[email protected]>; "MURPHY LIST" <[email protected]>; "HEALY LIST" <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, April 09, 2007 3:37 PM Subject: [COUNTYCORK] O'Kief Coshe Mang Volumes I don't believe that I live anywhere near a library that has the above volumes (Louisiana). Barbara, Are there any census for county Cork available? I am not familiar with the Family History Centers. I live in Houston and I am sure there is one here. My gr.grandfather Patrick Neville was from County Cork. Born in either 1843 or 1847. I don't know the names of his parents (my gr.gr.grands) or the exact area they are from. I don't know where to begin. A few years ago I was able to order these via the public library. It takes awhile and you need to decide which volumes you need as only certain volumes will be useful to you. Seems to me I have seen an index of the contents of each volume but sorry I now cannot remember where I saw that. If you have access to a Mormon Family History Center(available in most cities by looking under churches in the yellow pages of phone book...Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) they can order these volumes in for you to view there at their center...on microfilm. You may also be able to order this microfilm via library if they have a viewer. It would be wonderful if they were on CD's(my wish list) but not available in that format yet as far as I know. The first choice on my wish list right now is to be able to obtain the 1901 census for county Cork on CD(dreamer!) Cobh Genealogical Project(look on Anglican.org) has done some computerizing of a few parishes and will do a search for a reasonable fee if they have completed your area. This has been useful to me but the work is slowed now significantly due to lack of funding/priority. Hi, On www.familysearch.org I found Patrick & Ellen Murphy Healy. The children were: Julia c. 22Aug 1854 Ballyvourney ? Healy c. May 1856 Ballyvourney Catharine b. 22Jul 1865 Slievereagh, Cork Johanna b. 26Mar 1868 Cork There is what I believe an incorrect date for Tim b. 31Jul "1830" all to the same parents. My great-grandparents lived in Cloyne parish so I requested information from the Mallow Heritage Center and for a fee of $85. I received their parent's names & place of birth & birth date & marriage date. I don't believe that I live anywhere near a library that has the above volumes (Louisiana). Does anyone know if they can be found on line. I am most interested in Ballyvourney 1845-1880 Marriages, deaths, baptisms, births. Thanks, Sharie Moss Bluff, LA
They are available on microfilm from the Family History centers of the LDS. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sharie Paulson" <[email protected]> To: "Ireland, County Cork" <[email protected]>; "MURPHY LIST" <[email protected]>; "HEALY LIST" <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, April 09, 2007 3:37 PM Subject: [COUNTYCORK] O'Kief Coshe Mang Volumes >I don't believe that I live anywhere near a library that has the above >volumes (Louisiana). > > Does anyone know if they can be found on line.
