    3. How can I obtain civil registration records for county Cork 1870 to 1900, marriages and deaths and births 1882 to 1900. I am hoping to search for all Wolfes and Bryans in this time period not one specific name or date. Is this possible? How to do it? Thanx Barbara Clark

    1. [COUNTYCORK] Hurley, Lehane and Gilheany families from Bantryand Kealkill, Cork
    2. Linda and Dominic Barbato
    3. Hello everyone I've recently obtained some new information about my families so I am all raring to go again. This is what I know at this point - MARY HURLEY born 1853 in Bantry, County Cork, Ireland - my greatgrandmother My greatgrandmother, Mary Hurley born 1853, was the daughter of Daniel Hurley and Miss Lehane (I have Kate on Mary's baptismal certificate but another researcher has her mother as Mary). My GGmother said she was born in Bantry. Daniel married second Nora Gilheany maybe between 1863 and 1870. By the first wife he had Mary, Catherine, Jane, Nellie and Jerry. Jerry is said to have had two sons and 6 dtrs. One son was named Gerald and he had two daughters. Another son might have been named Vincent. Four of elder Jerry's children became teachers. By the second wife he had Bridget, Anastasia "Annie", Helena, Nora, Elizabeth and Michael "Mickey". I am told that Daniel built a pub in 1840 and he also had a 30 acre farm. The son Michael ran the pub in later years and then a neice of only 20 carried on after him. I do know that I have relations still there as someone I spoke to said that they had met them when they went to Ireland. I would very much like to find these relations and I hope that someone can help. Thank you P.S. Anastasia had a son named Christopher (surname unknown) My greatgrandmother immigrated to the United States and subsequently she and my greatgrandfather James Howell (her 2nd husband) immigrated to and lived the rest of their lives in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.. 2. Vivien & Charlie Clarke
    3. I have a Bridget Mahony from County Cork who married William Spall in Melbourne, Australia in 1843. They were my gg grandparents. I have no idea what her parents names were, they are not on her marriage certificate. Does anyone have any Bridget Mahonys, born about 1825 in County Cork, who disappear off the map? Presumably she left Ireland in the few years before 1843. I realise this is an absolute long shot as there were probably hundreds of Bridget Mahonys born about that time but any leads are better than none. Cheers Charlie

I have a letter that my great grandfather John O'Neil originally from West Cork had written April 2 1928 and it looks like the name was to Bill Biomingham . Regarding Mr. Barrett's age. My great grandfather has in the letter that the family name was Barrett and his given name was Mike he was born on 20 June 1818 in Donoughmore and her was christened 3 days later. I have no idea who Bill was or who Mike Barrett was. My great grandmother Julia Agnes O'Sullivan O'Neil mother was Catherine Barrett it may be a relative of hers I have no idea. 1. [COUNTYCORK] Mulcahy Ballyhooley
    2. Greetings all, Someone was looking for this surname in Cork, and there was a response about Mulcahy's in Ballyhooley. As I have some of those records I took a look and am posting here what I found. Anne Mulcahy married William Going on Feb 18, 1833 - the witnesses were William Evens, Michael Mulcahy. This is from Ballyhooley Church Records Anne and William Going had at least five children - Edmond May 28, 1834 Sponsors William Lombard and Anne Quaine Johanah Nov 8, 1836 Sponsors looks like David Mulkoly (but could be Mulcahy) and Johanna Lombard Mary Feb 18, 1839 Sponsors John Mulcahy and Mary Horgan Jane Apr 22, 1841 Sponsors John McCarthy and Mary Horgan Catherine Dec 16, 1844 Sponsors Thomas Going and Margaret Daly These are from Ballyhooley Church records Another instance of John Mulcahy's name appearing is as the sponsor, along with Catherine Going, to a child named James Rice, the son of John Rice and Bridget Sullivan - April, 1849 These are the only references I see with the material I have on hand. I am not working on this surname and have no additional information. I am working on the Going (Gowen) surname and just pulled this data from information gathered on Going. I hope it helps someone. Best wishes, Donna ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

    3. >From The Cork Examiner, 4 September 1878 - FISHERY PROSECUTION.--At he Coachford petty sessions, held on the 2nd instant, William Hall, a farmer, was summoned by the owner of the Feargus fishery on the River Lee, for having fished and trespassed on that part of the river without leave. It appeared from the evidence that the owner of said fishery had given this man leave to fish every day during the open season until nine o'clock in the morning, and after five o'clock in the evening. This indulgence did not seem to suit Bill Hall, as he fished whenever he liked, and though warned over and over again not to fish between the hours named, he continued to do so. The magistrates (as the owner did not press a severe penalty) inflicted the small fine of 10s. and costs. --Communicated. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dennis Ahern | Ireland Newspaper Abstracts Acton, Massachusetts | http://www.IrelandOldNews.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    3. I have a Timothy Mulcahy in my research he was son of John b 1811 and Ellen (Cosgrave) b 1810 that was the brother of my great grandfather. They immigrated to the States in the 1850's and settled in the Pennsylvania area. They were from county cork. He and his siblings were baptized in a place called Rathcormac I am unsure of its location. Timothy's brother William married Mary Cronin and they had 8 children including my grandfather. I have very little info from Ireland but, if you have questions about what I have let me know. Cork at least from early 1800's to 1880's. In 1804 Denis Mulcahy was baptized ( parents name unknown) in Boherbue, he married Julia Cronin approx. 1833, they had 2 sons, Denis born 1834 and John born 1835. In over 40 years, I have only been able to follow the line of Denis, and have no info as to John the brother, who may have lived in Mallow- Ballyhooley area as a adult. There were few Mulcahys in this area between Boherbue and Bally hooley, more of them from Cork City, and S, and scattered all over cork as shown by Griffiths. I would try to trace thru the Griffith info if possible for any Mulcahys, if you haven't done so already. Films available at any FHC. The only Timothy Mulcahy I can think of as related would be a cousins uncle in San Francisco area of Ca., who may still be alive. Would have been born between 1890-1910. Sorry I cannot be of more help, but if you get anymore info on family I would be interested to know. Good luck. ------------------------------ To contact the COUNTYCORK list administrator, send an email to [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>.
