Hello again Jane - the information came from the LDS edition of British Isles Vital Records CDs. It is also on their website at www.familysearch.org/ in the IGI under 'Search' section. In that timeframe you should be able to get a birth certificate but I'm not sure what else that would tell you. I didn't see any other births to this couple, although there is also a Thomas DEASY and a Mary BRICKLEY having children in that timeframe so it may be a very common match-up in the area. There are still DEASY's in the area in 1914 according to Guys Directory. I don't see any there in the Griffiths but there are lots of BRICKLEYs in the Griffiths for Lislee, which is right by Butlerstown. Best wishes, Patsy Sent: Tuesday, July 17, 2007 1:01 PM Subject: Re: [COUNTYCORK] DEASY - census 1851 > -- > Jane Cleary > Liewah Station > Moulamein NSW > AUSTRALIA > > Patricia, > > Wow!! > This is the best news I have received for a while. I didn't have any problem in accessing the website through the original link that was sent, so I was able to do my own search. Unfortunately (but not unexpectedly) there was nothing in the census fragments to help me, but I have still found it interesting to receive the emails regarding other peoples' searches, and who knows, maybe someday I will find out that my line is connected in some way! So I don't find the emails a problem at all. On the contrary, I find it admirable that you have been willing to assist so many. Katie, Before you get yourself and the COUNTYCORK web-site into all kinds of legal problems ... may I suggest that you read the "copyright" notice posted on the OGS web-site ... [if that is the source of your downloaded 1851 Census information]! The 1851 Census information is easily & readily available thru many other sites on the web ... plus the OGS site will be accessible again within a couple of days ... so although your intentions are good ... might I suggest you re-consider and proceed with due caution. ----- Forwarded message ----- Date: Mon, 16 Jul 2007 08:12:35 -0700 (PDT) From: Katie <[email protected]> Reply-To: [email protected] Subject: [COUNTYCORK] 1851 census To: [email protected] As it happened, I had saved the complete 1851 .pdf file. Hello Jan, Sorry to butt in here and not sure if I have contacted you before, but in relation to the Fitzgerald Family of Mallow, I found a grave headstone named REDMOND FITZGERALD d.1766 and no other information, from the St. James Cemetery, Mallow. Have had no luck in finding out anything about this cemetery. The Mallow Archeological Group have information about Mallow but I found it a bit expensive to employ their researchers. My ancestor was a Timothy Fitzgerald, b.1784, possibly married firstly to Catherine Crowley in 1814(not sure about this just a name sent to me from another list which has not been confirmed) Timothy married twice, his second wife was Matha Turner widow, m 1866, formerly Martha Davies who was considerably younger than him. Timothy died in Swansea in 1872 and I have his 2nd marriage and death certificates. His father was Redmond Fitzgerald, but there were quite a number of Redmonds around that time, so still checking this out. Also received info that a MARGARET FITZGERALD died in COAL QUAY Mallow in 1800. No info about her either. Are we looking for the same family? If so email me and let me know your line. If not, good luck with your search. Jan I hope the majority of subscribers and the list administrator support your kind efforts to assist members with their family research. I thought that was the purpose of these lists? However I will defer to the wishes of the list administrator if they would like to give a decision. As it happened, I had saved the complete 1851 .pdf file. It is just over 12K so I don't know if I could send it to the list. I suspect it is too large. Any suggestions on how to get it on the list? Thank you so much! I have flagged the website for the project starting in the fall. Unfortunately I have been stymied in my search prior to 1904. I found a couple of possible families in the 1851 record but without the time in between being connected, I have no way to confirm if either are whom I am looking for! Thanks again, Katie [email protected] wrote: Katie, I am taking the liberty of forwarding the following from another website ... GENIRE ... which should answer your query re the 1901 Census. You might find subscribing (FREE) to several different Irish websites informative ... since there are VERY knowledgeable individuals connected with each site. bamcgrath ----- Forwarded message from ----- Date: Fri, 29 Jun 2007 15:21:10 +0100 From: Hugh Watkins Reply-To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Irish censuses To: [email protected] david wrote: > Were there censuses for Ireland in 1891 or 1901 like in the U.K? yes Are they available online? no you have to go to the archives in Dublin or pay a researcher http://www.nationalarchives.ie/ 1901 and 1911 survive the rest are mostly destroyed you need a street address for easy access anyone - is there an index of names? >> The National Archives of Ireland has arranged for the digitisation, indexing and contextualisation of its most popular records, the census records for 1901 and 1911. The resulting website will contain images of the forms for each household and institution, which will be indexed by name (all names), townland/street, age and sex. On the left, you can see the household return for the Forristal family of Nottingham Street in Dublin city - please double click to enlarge and view the caption. There will also be illustrated information on what life was like in Ireland in the early days of the last century. The site will be free to access, with no charge to use the indexes or view the images. The first phase of the project, Dublin City and County 1911, is to be launched in Autumn 2007. We had hoped to launch earlier, but rapidly changing technology has meant that we are revising the architecture of the site, and this will lead to a small delay. << Hugh W ----- End forwarded message ----- ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message --------------------------------- Sick sense of humor?
