Most have no interest in understanding how their surname would relate to others, while others want to see if they are related to others with the same surname or different surname. Some may not find a match, while some do. The results of my 6th-cousin prove we share a common Collson ancestor born in the 1740s. The only thing that is guaranteed is an understanding of the ancient origin of the DNA that makes you male. Even if I had no immediate haplotype match, I would understand that my Y-DNA fits a Celtic motif.
