Hi Claire My G-G-Grandad was Arthur Albert Lloyd Coulson, born 18 Dec 1886 in Thorpdale Road, Islington. His father in turn was either William John Charles Coulson (according to my G-G-Gf's birth certificate), or John William Coulson (according to me G-G-Gf's marriage certificate)! I'm a bit stuck on this line at the moment (not having a DOB for William/John), so does any of this sound familier??? I think his father was called Thomas, who may have been born around 1849. Joseph married and had at least 5 children, Joseph, Nell, Florence, Walter and Albert. Jospeph junior was in the Royal then Merchant Navy and he's my grandfather. Joseph went back into the Army at the start of WW1 and died in 1916 at the Somme when he was in his 40s. His first wife left him and the children before the war and he 'remarried' - and I believe when he was killed, his second 'wife' put his younger children into a care home.
