The William Coulson I am after was born about 1815/1817. He was tried and found guilty of stealing a firearm from a dwelling house. His trial was held at Ipswich,Suffolk, England on 15 Feb 1832 and he was sentenced to 7 years transportation to Van Dieman's Land. On his convict record he was described as 17 years of age, 5 foot 5 inches tall with heavily tattooed arms and hands. His Hulk report was 'Good' and he was 'Single'. His Trade was as a bread and biscuit baker. I haven't been able to find his Native Place yet, but as he was tried in Ipswich I am assuming he was probably born in Suffolk. I have contacted State Archives here in Hobart, Tasmania to see if they have any record of where he was born and who his parents were. I will contact you if I get any info back from Archives.
