My husbands g.grandfather, William Hird, is Henry 's brother. It seems that Henry learnt his trade and took over Williams butcher shop, after William left for Australia with his family. Do you have any more details on what happened to Elizabeth's daughter, Martha? Henry was one of 13 children - I have lots on them if you are interested. It seems to link with my tree with this info. Henry Coulson has various listings for where born on census docs - Homley, Owmby etc. Martha's maiden name was Sheppherd according to ancestry marriage details (may only be one p as writing names were not registrars strong point). Elizabeth's brother was my great great grandad. Sorry no other link to Hird though. Sally Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hi Marianne, my COULSONs are possibly unrelated, but I just wanted to say the name is thought to derive from COLESON, and as spelling was not fixed at that time don't forget to look for: COLESSUN (London 1138) COLESONE (Staffordshire 1332) COLLESON (Suffolk 1386) COLLESSON (Yorkshire 1401) COLSON (Yorkshire 1408) Regards, David

His father was an EDMUND SAY (dob circa 1735/40)who was married to an ELIZABETH REBECCA BRADLEY (1745-1777)both of whom I believe were born in the BROMLEY KENT area. Does anyone out there have any COULSON connection which I guess was probably down the ELIZABETH REBECCA BRADLEY side (propensity to use grandmothers maiden name for children).
