Sarah, Here we go with family traditions again, but yes -- from Wales. There are several Lewis families in VA/NC/KY who go back to Wales. Mine go back to James Theopholus Lewis, Sr, supposed to have been born in Wales 1736, immigrated with father ?Nathaniel?. I don't think Nathaniel has been proved. At least not by me. James' son, James T. Jr. is the one who married Sarah/Sally Couch -- both born in 1770's. They were in Ashe Co the same time John and Joseph Couch lived there. To date, can't find a marriage record for James T. Jr and Sally, because we don't know where they married. I'm guesstimating 1795/96, since their first child, William Martin was born 1797. Another "set" of Lewis's came from David Lewis who md Ann Terrell, had son William Terrell Lewis who is my ex husbands ancestor. David may be the son of John Lewis. Both Lewis lines are ancestors of Gerri who posts on here from time to time. We have recently been sent a big file on the Wm. T. Lewis line from one of my Bradley "cousins". We can't prove our Bradley relationship though. Like most files, the Lewis one needs to be checked thoroughly. I can forward if you'd like. Joyce
