Ellen, Most interested in the John Couch you described as father of John Couch. Was it the son or the father John Sr. born before 1748 in Jamestown, VA? What I believe is my line is Thomas Couch who may have married Elizabeth in Bristol Parrish, Brunswick County, VA. Brunswick County (now Lunenburg Co, VA) is where Thomas received 566 acres on Pinelick branch (now Couches Creek) on the northern branches of North Merherrrin river. His letters of patents granting land was recorded in Williamsburg and dated in 1720. He had a son named Thomas Jr who was there in the same place and was born either 1710 or 1720. A proven brother of this Thomas Jr was William. Other possible brothers (or cousins) in Lunenbug County about that time were Matthew (son of Thomas and Elizabeth b July 1725), James, Edward and John. I recently visited the area which is now Lunenburg County (originally Prince George and then Brunswick Counties). Dr Richard Couch of Tulsa, Oklahoma is a descendent of John and James Couch who settled in Buckingham County, VA and Ron Couch is a descendent of John Couch (father of Martin Couch) who moved to Kentucky from Ashe County, NC and died there about 1840. Both Richard, Ron and I are among others who have matching COUCH DNA. It appears that the John Couch SR you describe from Jamestown might just be a link with these Couches I mentioned in Lunenburg County, VA from about 1720 to 1739 and Jamestown, VA Couches. Could this John Sr be the common ancestor of all the Grooup 5 Couch DNA members? This is certainly an interesting possibility. What do you think? Robert H.
