Ellen, I have been going over all your e-mails which I have saved and again, I want to get your help in searching for Captain John Couch who came to VA/? from England and was father to John, James b 1739, and your Orrell G. Couch. Since Dr Richard Couch of Tulsa, OK and I are both in DNA group 5 you and I also have a common ancestor. Who was related to your Captain John Couch? If James Couch was born in 1739 Capt John Couch was probably born somehwere between 1700-1720 give or tåke a few years before 1700. My projected Ancestor Thomas Couch was in Brunswick County, VA as early as 1720 when he got a land grant there and had his son Thomas Jr about 1710-1720. Thus Thomas Couch Sr was most likely born somewhere between 1690-1700. Could my Thomas and your Captain John possibly be brothers? Both we know came from England, both may have been born in England (possibly Cornwall/Devon England). And they had sons who settled first in Virginia my Thomas Couch JR in Brunswick Co, VA until about 1750 and your James and John in Buckingham County, VA in 1755-70. I have records of One John in Brunswick Co, VA as well as a William, a James and perhaps an Edward as well as Thomas SR. I am enclosing a list of early Couches in Virginia. See if any of these may be related to your Captain John Couch, father of John and James. Robert, I am leaving on a trip (seek, search, and disappointment) but will answer when I return. However, the Orrel G. Couch is the son of John Couch who died in Hopkins county Ky in 1840. I have nothing before the Captain John Couch who was born in England as well as his eldest son, James. Bev Blum has been the one who traced these names that far back and I will contact her again when I get home but to my knowledge no connection before Capt John Couch has been made. While you are searching, you might consider there was also a Solomon (something like that) living in VA in about that time. My line has been researched more thru the links to Massie, Earle, Howard, etc. Also the name of Prince is there also. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Couch, Robert H.
